Welcome! This is the landing page for our family company Rational Body, and our safe space to write freely. No distractions. No ads. Explorations in every direction. There is a lot here, on all kinds of topics- from recipes for things to put ON and IN our bodies, including our homemade skincare like our whipped tallow lotion (vanilla bean latte style that smells amazing), to self published books including investigations into the origins of our holidays. I am an engineer by training, trained herbalist, and my husband is a designer, and our kids feature in a lot of the content. Our goal is to support learning more about ourselves, nourishing ourselves (body and soul), and finding ways to have enough vibrant energy that we cannot help but share our talents with the world. Changing the way we see food. Obese squirrels do not exist in the wild, only in Central Park where they eat OUR FOOD. The foods we eat are genetically engineered to bypass our brains saying STOP. Learn to see the world differently if you want to FEEL differently. Our bodies are rational, and the responses to a toxic environment are equally rational. Your body is sending you red flags for a reason. That stubborn weight gain? It is more than calories in and out. We cannot live off of calories of skittles.
I could not believe what just a week on simple REAL foods did for me. Colors seem brighter, every bite of real food has more flavor. My whole mood is lifted, and braig fog (a term I never knew existed or could even apply to me), lifted like a cloud after a stormy year. The new year often reminds us of the cyclical nature of life, giving us a moment to consider the things that are important in our life that we want to focus on. Here is hopefully some incentive to try out what works for your body, but it requires a slashing of that pantry.

I started this website writing about the books I was reading on my commute. I love talking about it all. We live in an unprecedented time of access to information and freedom to find and discuss it. The most nutritious first bites. Start your baby off with the best possible options. You get 2 to 5, possibly 13 years to make a difference on your child’s microbiome, and a lifetime of opportunity to help guide them through modeling. The first years are crucial for setting their habits and guiding them away from the engineered food that is more drug than food by definition. Our biology is designed to choose the foods we need, but not when the system is rigged with sugar and carbs and colors and fake flavors. We can protect our children from this. It is not the time to let them be guided by people looking to profit off of them.
