Skin Remedies
My current Tea routine is this skin blend (used in my morning smoothie), and calming nervine tea, with a little matcha if i want more of a kick, (drunk hot during the day, reusing the same herb several times, just adding more water).
Proportion of herb to water: 1 tsp dry or 2 Tbs fresh herb to 1 cup of water. I make at the end of my day, let steep overnight, and drink in the morning, blended into my smoothie (instead of water).
Overnight Skin Infusion Blend. After much research on ayurveda and traditional chinese medicine on the oldest, and longest lasting protocols for healing acne, I settled on these as the most potent:
Chinese violet leaf (violet is a famous remedy for skin and liver health in indian and asian traditions. liver and skin are intimately connected, as excess toxins have to come out somewhere, and skin is a major organ to push stuff through, and last thing needed to be protected if an organ needs to suffer. Think of SWEATING as a great thing)
Gotu kola (Elephants, known to be super smart, LOVE this plant. It’s a brain tonic, as well as a healing one. It’s been noted that wild tigers take refuge under these trees when they are injured and healing. Shown to increase blood circulation)
Marshmallow root (gooey substance, helps soothe internal tissues, like an internal Neosporin)
Nettle (suggested to drink daily, for ALL KINDS of benefits)
Burdock
Tulsi: fights acne, reduces anxiety, balances hormones, relieves stress
Roobios Tea: high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants that fight free radicals. Improves skin, has alpha hydroxy acid, which is one of the main ingredients in skin treatments, wrinkles
I love the idea of using these herbs from all over the world, known for healing, especially for acne.
